Bird Banding Volunteers Needed 9/1-9/5 and 9/8-9/12

The countdown has begun for Bird Banding 2026 at Ridgway State Park. Join our BCAS volunteers from 9am to Noon at the Dallas Creek site September 1-5 and 8-12. Most volunteers will be speaking to fourth and fifth grade students. Two people will be assigned to each station. The 5 stations are Adaptations, Binoculars, Habitat, Migration, and Banding.  We also need a few volunteers on Saturday Sept. 5 to talk to adults and families on the Public Banding Day. 

There will be an Orientation Session from 9:00 to 11:00 on August 31st for anyone wanting to meet other volunteers or take a short refresher on activities at each station.

Roubideau Rim Wildlife Rescue

Brenda Miller at Roubideau Rim Wildlife Rescue is in need of lumber for construction of rehabilitation cages.  She can use posts, plywood, rails, boards, etc. in any condition, scrap or new.  Please contact her via This email address is being protected from spambots. Brenda has been the only wildlife rehabilitator in the Montrose/Delta area and is trying to reestablish her service and maintain her license. Roubideau Rim Wildlife Rescue is a 501c3 charitable organization.  If you do not have lumber for her, perhaps you would consider donating to this worthy cause.

Volunteers Needed

We are looking for some volunteers who can drive injured raptors to rehab centers. Usually the bird is in a pet kennel and just needs a ride. Nothing hard about it.
